Gerunds and to-infinitives

1. We form a gerund by adding -ing to a verb. We can use gerunds as nouns.

2. We can use gerunds as the subject of a sentence.

3. We can use gerunds after prepositions.

4. We can use gerunds after certain verbs.

5. We usually use gerunds after these verbs:

  • avoid

  • dislike

  • finish

  • keep

  • mind

  • practise

  • stop

  • consider

  • enjoy

  • imagine

  • mention

  • miss

  • recommend

  • suggest
